you know a lot of companies change things solely for the sake of changing them, just to try and get peoples' attention. Have you ever heard of "marketing"? the entire concept behind marketing is convincing people that things should be one way or another. My solution is to not play Minecraft for a week or two until they sort this out. Java is set to 8 GB (out of 32GB), but it's not a memory issue because task manager says only ~3.5 GB are in use by Minecraft Launcher. Luckily, Ctrl+Alt+Del still works, and from there I can put the computer to sleep, then wake it up, which brings me safely to the desktop screen, allowing me to kill Minecraft Launcher with the task manager. I have to kill Minecraft with task manager because if I return to the game and try to exit normally I'm stuck in Minecraft and cannot successfully alt+tab to freedom. (It's not using all cores, but the ones that it is using are being floored.) I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the task manager, which explicitly shows that "Minecraft Launcher" is taking over 50% of the CPU. Everything starts fine, but within a minute or two the framerate drops and drops and drops until the game is under 1 fps. The game has gone from 60 fps to basically frozen with the new launcher.
